lyrics
He’s floating through the sea,
If he becomes too heavy, he might just sink.
The ship moans on and it creaks,
Cannons ready, yeah he’s, trigger happy.
He’s been gone for months,
Hair of seaweed, barnacles on his arms.
Now harbored back at the docks,
Not in the water,
He meets the, mayor’s daughter.
They met back at the bar,
Both trying to drown sorrows,
The sea wouldn’t, swallow up,
But drink could only get them so far,
And upon meeting,
They knew they’d, had enough.
(Chorus)
It's a word reversal,
A dress rehearsal,
They screamed their vows,
But the love stayed partial.
He’d soon be going,
The next morning.
Off to fight a war on the sea.
Back on the sea, he holds his breath,
Never has he had something worth, fighting for.
Now terrified of the undefined depths,
Sharks and whales hold his interest no more.
A year later he’d return,
Though the sea was unkind to him.
But he still loved her, now he learned,
That wheath ered sea town, was where his real life began.
He sang,
(Chorus)
“It’s all or nothing,
Though nothing’s something,
It’s the absence that makes up the man.”
He held her closer,
But soon he’d leave her,
Just to see the sea, again.
And she sang,
(Chorus)
“It’s now or never,
Lonely together,
Wondering how to swim again.
My lover’s leaving,
But me, I’m learning,
It’s the absence that makes up the man.”
